Olive blooms... finally.

First off, happy 4th of July to all my American friends!!! But you see July is the special month and need be celebrated everyday.  It always starts with the Canada Day shibang, Birthday week - sometimes month - of course, the 4th, the sunshine month (therefore the happy month)... I think you get what I'm saying.  But boy oh boy, July came in with a bang this year.  I think the weather is officially bi-polar.  I spent my birthday inside commiserating over the torrential downpours, wind, and highs of 68F.  I think the coldest it has ever been.  But then, like a glimmer of hope, the clouds broke and shone down a garden surprise.  My Arbequina Olive tree that has been "about to bloom" since March finally bloomed!  So I frolicked through the overgrown wet grass to gaze upon its beauty.

I just love the dark almost blue green of the older growth!!

And the tender new growth coming along nicely.

  1. I can almost picture you frolicking through the overgrown wet grass to see the olive blooms, and that's a lot of blooms!

Happy Birthday (I'm a July baby too), I think the switch has been flipped and summer is finally here!

  2. haha. I say this quite often, but I'm convinced the neighbours think I'm certifiable. But I'm not worried... they can have their azaleas. It's not actually that bad... One of the houses just hacked down a giant rhodo and planted a couple of nice grasses with rock mulch!!! they have even been considering a palm I've been told.

happy birthday to you too!! it's true, summer has arrived. The forecasts show nothing but warm sunshine - maybe 90 this weekend?! When in July is your big day?!

    2. Nice! That's a pretty sweet title. You should have an extra terrestrial themed moon party. How about out of this world plant party?!
