September bloom day is special. It's the last bloom day of summer, and as far as the season goes, this has to be one of the most spectacular days yet! We are certainly living the glory days of summer right now. And the garden shows it. I just LOVE summer!
Its a sea of flowers!!!
I really think this is THE year for echeveria blooms. They have been going all spring and summer long! Why doesn't everyone have echeveria for their annuals!?
Keeping with the the same colour pallet is my 'hot tamale' rose.
And the aloes just keep on blooming! I am thrilled with all my aloe blooms this summer. I was worried back a few months ago when the darn squirrels got to my aloes, but little did I know, I would have blooms all summer long!
New guinea impatients have been a bit finicky with the dry weather but have responded positively to a nice watering now and again.
And I now have geranium shrubs....
This has certainly been a stellar summer of bloom day wonderfulness. I hope that you take time to appreciate all the wonderful colours of the season! And remember, its the year of summer! Expect good things for October!
Beautiful blooms! Is that a loquat growing in the pot with the geraniums? Will it be o.k. in a pot over winter? I just got one but don't quite know where to put it just yet. If I could winter it in a pot that would be great! Your Yucca 'Bright Star' is gorgeous! Love echiveria blooms. People probably don't grow more of them as annuals because of the expense. I winter mine over inside.
ReplyDeleteThanks. That is a loquat in there. The pot is fairly large actually. I hope it will be okay in the winter. This is my first year with the loquat so its uncharted territory for me. I was thinking about wheeling it over up against the house. I thought I could put it maybe up against the west side of the house under the eaves. From what I understand they are hardy under our normal winter conditions. I really should have planted it but I don't have any place in mind yet. It was an impulse buy. I just love loquats soo much!
DeleteHappy Bloom Day, Louis! I love your echeveria and aloe blooms. Like outlawgardener, I noticed what looks like a loquat and wondered the same thing. So, do you overwinter it in the pot??
ReplyDeleteHappy bloom day to you too, Jane! thanks! It's a loquat and will be the first winter. I hope it's okay in the pot. I was saying to outlaw that I might bring it up against the west side of the house. If things get real cold we do have a garden shed that I could put it in. That's what I do with my potted flax - especially if there is any wind mixed with cold. But I'm banking on a mild winter (hoping at least).
DeleteHappy September flowers all over your garden! Love the Echiveria...
ReplyDeleteThanks. I looove echeveria too. After seeing your black one I will have to grow that next spring. I'm going to start doing up some succulent cuttings for my inside summer happiness displays.
DeleteHappy Bloom Day! I grew my first Echeverias this year, in pots. They do have cool flowers. What an interesting idea, to put them in the ground as annuals. I might try that next year. I love Yucca 'Bright Star', I planted two of them for the first time this year too.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Im hope the echeverias bug catches on. I grow echeverias glauca year round! The others I will take cuttings of and over winter them inside until next spring. And hooray for bright star yuccas!!
DeleteLove the Yucca Bright Star.........I have one that I planted in a very pale turquoise pot. The two together look stunning!
ReplyDeleteLove how I snuck that in as the star of a flower post!? It's one of my favorite plants. In a turquoise pot would be epic! Post some pics!
DeleteCool hot tamale rose! Would love to see one open. It is so pretty!
